An interesting paper evaluating the potential of sustainably sourced, plant-based homopolymers as sustainable alternatives for traditional emollients. It explores the efficacy of these plant-based emulsions in terms of transepidermal water loss, skin elasticity and hydration as well as in-use characteristics, branding and consumer behaviour. They draw some fascinating conclusions about the potential of plant-based emollient alternatives in the future of skin care and dermatology and strategies to increase consumer uptake of such products.
