RCPsych Research Fellow in Sustainability 2013-15, Dr Daniel Maughan, based at the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare, outlines the major components of sustainability and how they relate to the delivery of mental health care. Examples of sustainable practice include reducing over-prescribing of depot antipsychotic medications and broadening the available interventions to include community support groups and social prescribing.
