Carbon footprint of IV giving sets | Sustainable Healthcare Networks Hub

Hi al,

My name is Dan, I am an ED pharmacist and have been looking at the prescribing of IV vs. oral paracetamol. I know what the carbon footprint of IV and oral paracetamol are but does anyone know what the carbon footprint of the IV giving sets are?

Hi Dan,

For a recent project I estimated an IV giving set to have a carbon footprint of 0.2005 kgCO2e per set. This includes the giving set, packaging, transport (made in China coming to UK via ship), and disposal.
