Help! Template curriculum documents needed!

Kenneth Barker

Help!

It seems that UoAberdeen like our SSM in Sustainable Medicine, and are asking us now to submit to become part of the core curriculum.  Good news. We are however under a bit of time/resource pressure and wonder if either of you have access to any documents from other Universities that we could use as templates. We're looking for general descriptions of the content in categories; assessment tools; outcomes expected; and skills required/developed, etc

Any pointers very gratefully received...

Hi Kenneth,

I have recently finished supervising an SSM for 2nd years at Bristol medical school.

They were attached to GP practises for 3 weeks and conducted QI projects in pairs, putting sustainable healthcare into action.

Happy to share any of the planning, teaching materials and example essays that you feel might be helpful.

As an education fellow with CSH my main focus this year is developing undergraduate teaching on sustainable healthcare in QI. If you think there is any way to collaborate further than simply sharing resources, happy to help

Stuart

Hi Stuart,

Thanks for your offer of help, and we'd be glad to collaborate. We have our first SSM student here at the moment, but the proposal to quickly grow this to part of the main curriculum has just arrived. I have offers of help from Frances Mortimer (SDU) and Cliff Shelton (Lancaster) so that's a great start. At the moment we're looking to define the basic structure of the course, skills required, but also the assessment and expected outcomes.  kenneth.barker@nhs.net

Hello Ken

We host a sustainable healthcare conference every year at the University of Brighton.  The next one will be 3 May 2020 - call for abstracts and registration details about to be released very soon, but save the date if you are interested.

Here's the webpage for the 2019 conference which includes videos of the oral presentations and links to abstracts and posters.  These are freely available so might be a useful resource you can use within teaching sessions or e-learning links for students about topics related to sustainable healthcare practice.

You can also access videos of oral presentations and download PowerPoints and posters from previous conferences dating back to 2015:  Webpage for past conferences

The Resources section contains links to organisations, reports and videos about sustainable healthcare practice.

We'll be posting info about the May 2020 conference soon on the CSH website.

Thanks,

Heather
