how to avoid unnecessary sterilisation procedures?

I am trying to set up a virtual clinic that will involve using an endoscope to examine the ear drum and subsequently capture the findings photographically.  

I can foresee that infection control will ask that the endoscope is autoclaved between every patient use, which is makes using the device completely impractical.
  
Does anyone have any helpful evidence or advise that I can use to get a more common sense approach to cleaning this device?
