Good Food Oxford is proud to present The Oxford Good Food Charter. Good Food Oxford is part of the Sustainable Food Cities Network. Its aim is to identify and catalyse actions by individuals and organisations in and around Oxford that will measurably reduce the greenhouse gas emissions associated with Oxford’s food system while promoting environmental sustainability, social inclusion, health, wellbeing, the local economy and a thriving food culture.

One of the first steps towards achieving its aim has been the creation of The Oxford Good Food Charter, a statement of our shared vision for a better food system in Oxford, which will be officially launched on 13th June, a day before the start of low carbon week Oxford. The Charter was developed with the help of a steering group, which included representatives of different sectors, and feedback from others in and outside the Good Food Oxford network.

The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare (CSH) joined the steering group to represent health and healthcare. We hope that a shared vision will be a catalyst and provide a support platform for health and other sectors to take up the challenge of contributing to an improved food system and a healthier population in the area. GPs may find the Charter a useful vehicle to engage patients and it might encourage NHS Trusts to review their food procurement policies.
