Psychiatric Team of the Year: Outstanding contribution to sustainability
Self-nominations will be accepted in this category. Entries must be accompanied by a letter of support from the Chief Executive, Chair or other member of the organisation’s board or senior management team.
This Award has been developed in partnership between the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare. It is to recognise work done by healthcare professionals that demonstrates an understanding of the connection between health and the environment, and that helps to improve the sustainability of mental health care.
Teams should be based in the UK.
Entries should provide evidence of the following:
Sustainability
- Demonstrate a service improvement project which creatively improves the environmental sustainability of mental health care in any of the following areas: reduced resource use; reduced waste; reduced carbon footprint; reduced staff and patient travel.
- Describe how this project affected quality of care.
- Describe any other advantages or gains that the project achieved.
- Highlight information that will assist other organisations to implement similar changes (for example, detailing who was involved, what resources were required, any barriers overcome, and how the change will be sustained).
Leadership and teamwork
- Demonstrate effective leadership and good team-working
Effective use of resources
- Demonstrate the relevance of the project to its target population as a whole.
- Demonstrate that patients’ and/or carers’ quality of life was improved as a result of the project.
