Reusable drapes and gowns in orthopaedic surgery

Hi All, does anyone work at a trust where reusable drapes and gowns are used in orthopaedic theatres?  At many trusts it seems orthopaedic theatres have remained resistant to reusable drapes/gowns despite these being used in all other specialties.  I would be very interested to here if anyone uses reusable stuff in orthopaedics. Thanks.

We are very early in our hopeful return to reusable linen. We met the Director of a large reusable linen company (Retex) and he said that they had not offered their linen for orthopaedics. It may be a chicken and egg situation. Does anyone know about any infection control studies specifically for orthopaedics?

Hi James, sorry this is a long time after your initial post but in case it's still helpful we are starting a trial of reusable gowns (and may go on to reusable drapes) at Peterborough City Hospital - the surgeon trialing them is orthopaedic, he's planning to start using them for surgeries that don't involve implants in the first instance. I can see if he'd be happy to be in touch if that's helpful? Also I understand Norfolk and Norwich use reusable drapes for all surgeries and presumably this includes orthopaedics.
