Does anyone have any data on the above?
This is the only abstract I can find on this #6825 ECOLOGICAL APPROACH FOR KIDNEY REPLACEMENT THERAPY IN CRITICAL CARE: SLED MAY BE A STRATEGY | Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation | Oxford Academic
and our ICU are very keen to more sustainable treatment pathways.
Hi Nina,
Purely convective treatments (CVVH) are easily done on most modern HDF machines. Since covid, our ICU tend to do 12-14hr treatments overnight leaving the days free for other interventions. I have estimated potential savings of over £100 per treatment using online CVVH rather than bagged and annual GHG emission reductions of >10,000 kgCO2e. Also around 180 tonnes less of staff lifting pa.
I don't pretend to know the answer to this, but I do know Fresenius are marketing a reuse haemofilter effluent bag for ICU currently...
Though my NHS account won't let me copy the details. I can forward to your email if it's of interest.
