Vote for the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare to win £1010 to cut carbon emissions!

The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare’s project to support NHS organisations to retro-fit heat exchangers to kidney dialysis machines is one of three projects which are through to the final of the Pitch Pledge Party, a new 10:10 initiative designed to bring practical carbon-cutting projects together with donors looking to support the fight against climate change at ground level. The Pitch Pledge Party is being run in partnership with the Funding Network and the Guardian, and involves three projects pitching to a roomful of donors for £3–5k of vital funding at a ‘Dragon’s Den’ type event on October 10th – this coming Monday.

Two 10:10 supporters have just added an extra £1,010 to the pot, but there's one condition attached: the voting public has to decide who gets it!

The Centre for Sustainable Healthcare’s project is part of our pioneering Green Nephrology work, and aims to fix up Britain's energy-hungry kidney dialysis machines. The idea, based on a case study by Fraser Campbell and Steve Milne at Kent Kidney Care Centre, East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, is to help and encourage NHS organisations to fit a tried and tested device called a heat exchanger to 1,000 machines across the country, reducing their energy consumption by around 20% and saving nearly 300 tonnes of carbon each year.

Pitch Pledge Party funding would pay for a project coordinator to help the Centre's networks deliver and publicise the retro-fits. So please vote today and circulate this article.

Head to http://www.1010global.org/uk/ppp/peoples-project to check out the three finalists and cast your vote. Thank you!
