Are you interested in how sustainability relates to your work? Those within the Oxford AHSN area (Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Milton Keynes) have access to sustainability workshops and also the opportunity to develop expertise in sustainable healthcare by becoming a trained sustainability champion.
Sustainability Workshops
If you would like to take part in a Measuring Carbon Workshop, join us at the George Pickering Education Centre, John Radcliffe Hospital, on either Wednesday 24th September or Wednesday 8th October between 9.30 and 1.30. The same workshop will be offered at each of these dates – so you just need to choose the date that suits you best.
Feedback from previous workshops:
'Really was good. It takes a lot to inspire those who've been working in the NHS for decades but you managed it!'
Dr Alison Graham, Spinal Injuries Consultant, Buckinghamshire NHS Trust
'It was definitely worth coming – the information presented was well worth hearing - and the networking was worthwhile, particularly hearing about the sustainability challenges in other specialties and professions.'
Rex Haigh, Medical Psychotherapy Consultant, Berkshire Healthcare
To learn more or register for these or later sessions contact Rebecca. If you and your colleagues are based in the Thames Valley area and would like either an introduction session to sustainable healthcare or a carbon workshop based in your area, please let us know.
Becoming a Sustainability Champion
The Oxford AHSN is the first in the country to design in sustainability. As part of developing healthcare in this way a Sustainability Champions programme will take actions forward across the AHSN patch. Those who choose to become Sustainability Champions will:
• receive bespoke training and support;
• develop expertise in an increasingly important area;
• have the opportunity to work across disciplines;
• develop their own potential for original research/care design;
• be well placed to help motivate and encourage their colleagues; and
• support their future career by developing skills critical for tomorrow's healthcare system.
To learn more contact Rebecca.
We welcome those delivering treatment and care, patient representatives, researchers, health educators and those from the health industry.
