Join us for our next Nursing & Midwifery Susnet event on plant-based food systems in hospitals.

Giovanna Dicandia, RN, BSc, Nursing Lead at Plant-Based Health Professionals UK, began her nursing career in Italy in 2010 and joined the NHS in 2014, specialising in cardiology and heart failure care. Her passion for holistic health and sustainability led her to adopt a plant-based lifestyle in 2020, becoming an advocate for plant-based nutrition to promote human health, environmental stewardship, and animal welfare.

In 2023, she was nationally shortlisted for the Florence Nightingale Foundation’s Green Healthcare Leadership Programme, where she presented a hospital-based sustainability project promoting plant-based food systems. Giovanna founded a plant-based community at her NHS hospital, is a member of the NHS England Nurses and Midwives Sustainability Network and completed the Plant-Based Nutrition course at the University of Winchester in 2024. She is also a Certified Lifestyle Medicine Professional and IBLM Diplomate.
