2. Maddie De-Vicq, RCOG sustainability fellow and O+G trainee - 10 min 54s - https://youtu.be/LvCi3p42-EU?si=3s3meSCucaPYexoq
Maddie presents the recently published environmental QUIP tool which has been developed by the RCS to complement the Intercollegiate Green Surgery checklist and encourage spread of the recommended sustainability initiatives. This first tool offers a framework and resources for introducing alcohol-based hand rub as an alternative to soap and water in surgical theatres.
3. Amy Manning: Northumbria Healthcare Trust sustainability fellow and Year 7 specialist trainee O+G - 5min 4s - https://youtu.be/mdZViFdMwLg?si=tCyXLsZVnUG_G8cK
Amy presents her team's work in identifying discrepancies in the sterility procedures and draping techniques utilised for the same procedures when performed as an in-patient rather than an out-patient. Similar projects undertaken within surgical specialties, for example in the case of carpal tunnel surgery, has led to a reduction in the use of drapes and resources without negative impacts on patient care.
