University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust are relaunching a gloves off reduction campaign in response to a change in policy. That being, removal of gloves and aprons for the respiratory precautions PPE ensemble.
Glove use data for the Trust was reviewed to highlight his use areas. These areas were then visited and staff innovators actively recruited to be a gloves off champions.
Emails were also sent to IPC Link Champions and Green Ambassadors to find other innovators.
A focus group (process mapping) with staff in one high use area is planned to take place in early October. This will be a no-blame approach to understand when and why gloves are used. The aim being to support correct practice and openly discuss when they are not necessary. I will be facilitating the focus groups. The aim is to monitor monthly glove use and hopefully see a reduction.
The communications team are supporting with a refresher of our gloves off infographic and other materials.
AI was used to summarise what the motivators to glove reductions could be for staff. However, trust policy does not allow use of AI generated posters in the organisation and the poster has been uploaded here as an example only (it looks quiet eye catching)
